This Master Mason Patent was inspired by the artist researching the Regius Poem, one of the eariest known Masonic texts. Full of symbolism, this patent includes a scene from the Master Mason Degree inside the ornate "O" as well as the Square and Compass adorned by four women representing the four cardinal virtues of Masonry: Prudence, Temperance, Foritude and Justice.
The text of the patent is set over the flower of life pattern, and if you look closely you will find symbols representing Fibonacci, the four divine elements along with a subtle border consisting of the beginning articles of the Regius Poem itself.
"I am particulary proud of this patent because it is the first one I have created that really incorporates my drawing skills. As a classicly trained artist who's forte is in drawing, drafting these in the style of the 13th century is very challenging. I have to ignore concepts like depth, detail and form to mimic the style of the era which makes it very difficult to create something that does not come off as cartoonish. I think I accomplished this here and have created something that has not been seen in Freemasonry in centuries."
