Steady Red

Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24in, 2016

Steady Red is term used in a rhyme that explains what the light beacon on top of the Old John Hancock building means. “Steady blue, clear view. Flashing blue, clouds due or changes due. Steady red, rain ahead. Flashing red, snow instead.”. This painting depicts Park Street Chruch during a rain storm on an early summer day.

“I was standing on the corner in front of the Park Street while it was raining and took a photo that this painting and thought ‘Steady Red’ could refer to the red brick church as well as the light beacon. ” -Ryan Flynn
